CHAPTER 1

About GGGI

OUR MISSION

GGGI supports its Member States in transitioning their economies towards a green growth economic model that simultaneously achieves poverty reduction, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and economic growth. We champion green growth as the practical response that provides the contribution to our Member States’ efforts to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement.

OUR VISION

A low-carbon resilient world of strong, inclusive, and sustainable growth.

Established in 2012 at the RIO+20 Conference, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, intergovernmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. At the end of 2023, 48 Member States and 24 Partners States and regional integration organizations were joining hands with GGGI for green growth transformation.

GGGI focuses on in-country delivery with customized and relevant solutions embedded within Member State governments. We are objective, independent, technically grounded, and demand-driven. GGGI partners with stakeholders to develop innovative green growth solutions, project financing, and investments, as well as to share knowledge and lessons learned. With operations in 46 countries, the combination of policy advice and the development of bankable projects to implement green policies that attract green and climate finance gives GGGI a unique value proposition.
